01

Distinguish the connection from the content

A misleading website can also use HTTPS. The connection indicator therefore cannot confirm that a claim is accurate, that an operator is official or that a form should receive your details. You still need to inspect the hostname, the source and the reason for the requested action.

02

Read a warning as a reason to stop

Certificate and connection warnings can have several causes, including configuration problems or an unexpected connection. Do not assume a harmless explanation. Avoid continuing through a warning to enter sensitive information, and do not disable browser checks because a page or message instructs you to do so.

03

Keep any checks proportionate

Confirm that you typed the intended address and that the device’s date and time are sensible. If the problem persists, leave the page and consult independently established information from the relevant publisher. A technical warning cannot be resolved by trusting the page’s visual design more strongly.

MERITKING GİRİŞ / A quick checklist

A quick checklist

  • Use HTTPS as one connection check, not a publisher endorsement.
  • Stop before entering information on a warned connection.
  • Verify the address without disabling browser security controls.

This is independent information. It does not represent an operator or endorse its services.
